Our Communicate-ed Conference Venue Update/Refresher training is for anyone involved in the access arrangements process who wishes to update their knowledge for the 2026/27 JCQ regulations. The full day course is approved by the SpLD Assessments Standards Committee (SASC) for 5 core CPD hours (morning only course is 3 core CPD hours). Because it is an update course, it assumes a level of knowledge and experience. Delegates will be required to confirm that they have a good knowledge of the current JCQ regulations. The Communicate-ed Conference Venue Update/Refresher training will cover the 2026/27 JCQ Regulations for Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments.
With reference to updates for the JCQ regulations for 2026/27, set in the context of the changes over the last few years, the course will cover:
There will be a brief Q&A session before lunch, and there will be opportunities to network with colleagues in similar settings at lunchtime.
Full Day delegates will have an extended Q&A session, afternoon seminars plus the chance to examine 40+ tests.
There will be two afternoon seminars to choose from for full day Venue delegates. These are:

2. Extra Time in Exams - Test Areas and Procedures

The course tutors for the morning update/refresher training are Caroline Read and Rebecca Thompson.
Caroline is one of the founders of Communicate-ed. She is a specialist teacher who has practical experience in all areas of the access arrangements process and trains for local authorities, universities and SEND services. Caroline has contributed to a range of publications, including academic journals. She has worked with a number of publishers to develop tests, and has been involved in various DfE and Ofqual training and policy projects. She was a member of the working party that established the Access Arrangements Online system. In 2024 Caroline was presented with a University of Roehampton Chancellor’s Alumni Award, for Innovation and Inspiration in her industry.
Rebecca is a Specialist Teacher with more than 21 years’ assessment experience. She has a current Assessment Practising Certificate, regularly carrying out diagnostic assessment for dyslexia and dyscalculia, as well as carrying out access arrangement assessments. She is a senior assessor and IQA for the PAPAA course, supporting students with the course demands. She is a member of the APC accreditation team for the BDA and is a SpLD Assessment Standards Committee (SASC) approved CPD provider, with current SASC courses for mentoring on diagnostic report writing; building assessment confidence in report writing for SpLD in maths; branching out into EAA: a guide for Level 7/APC holder; and using the SASC 2025 report format for SpLD in maths.

The morning only session is SASC approved for 3 hours core CPD.
The full day is SASC approved for 5 hours core CPD.
Full day delegates can only receive a full day certificate if they stay for the afternoon - this is because the CPD is SASC-approved and we have an obligation to ensure that delegates have done the hours that they are being certified for.
