Our update/refresher course in JCQ Examination Access Arrangements is for delegates who already have a working knowledge of the JCQ regulations. This course is approved by the SpLD Assessments Standards Committee (SASC) for 3 Core CPD hours. Because it is an update course, it assumes a level of knowledge and experience. Delegates will be required to confirm that they have a good knowledge of the current JCQ regulations. For details of our introductory course, please click here.

Our face to face Update/Refresher courses run in September and will cover the 2018/19 regulations with specific reference to the changes for the new academic year, including updates to the Access Arrangements Online system.
The afternoon session will give an extended opportunity for delegates to ask questions as well as to network with colleagues. We have invited representatives from the JCQ/Awarding Bodies and Ofqual to attend and help to answer queries. There will be opportunities to participate in presentations, workshops and case studies. For those unable to participate for the full day, a morning only option is available. This will include the presentation of the regulations, including updates for 2017/2018.
For an extra £10, delegates booking a place on a face to face course in September will be able to access the online training for the week beginning 27th August. This will give the opportunity to be aware of the changes as soon as the regulations come into force on 1st September before term starts, and still meet with colleagues, ask questions, and hear about the changes at the face to face course near to you later in the month.
Our courses covering the 2018/2019 regulations take place on the following dates/venues:
**Cardiff & Belfast courses are morning only, the presentation will be via prerecorded video with live online Q&A with Caroline Read. These courses can be booked here.
Our course tutors can come to your school or college to run the training face to face. Please email for more information (admin at communicate-ed dot org dot uk).
For over a decade we have been running courses across the country, aiming to provide high quality, value for money training for education professionals working in the area of special needs. Many of our delegates are telling us that it is increasingly difficult for busy professionals to take the opportunity to attend courses ‘off-site’. In response to this, we now offer a number of online training courses, focusing on Examination Access Arrangements, Assessment, and Supporting SEN Students.
With the internet now so accessible, the advantages of online courses are clear:
Courses can be viewed at any time, and in any venue where there is a good internet reception.
You will have 10 days (or for some courses 20 days) from the start date you choose to login and view the course. You can run the course as many times as you want to within this 10/20 day period.
Please note that if you book as a group using one of our second or subsequent delegate discounts, due to the login requirements, it is only possible for one login at a time to be used to access the course. It won’t be possible for more than one delegate to be accessing the course on different computers at the same time.
If a group of delegates are accessing a course together, all delegates must be from your school/college; you can’t use the course to train staff from other centres.
N.B. Delegates will need a good broadband connection to access our online courses.
This course is not assessed. However, for an extra £10 you can take an online multiple choice assessment that proves your knowledge of the JCQ regulations and procedures. If you pass, you can print out a certificate confirming your knowledge of the regulations to put in your CPD folder. To add this to your booking, please select it below when it asks if you want to ‘add assessment’.
