DASH-2 Webinar with Q&A (DASH2WEB)

  • Tuesday 14th May 2024, 7.00pm - Webinar

2 hours - Members £25 || Non-members £30

This webinar will be useful for specialist assessors carrying out diagnostic assessments, access arrangement assessors testing for exam access arrangements and SENCos using the DASH-2 for screening purposes.

The DASH-2 is a measure of handwriting speed for children and young adults. This session will provide an opportunity to hear from Professor Anna Barnett, Sheila Henderson and Beverley Scheib, the authors of the DASH-2. They will explain how the test can be used to measure handwriting speed, detailing the uses of each subtest in turn, including how they can support an application for 25% extra time or a scribe in examinations. The changes/updates from the original DASH/DASH 17+ will be discussed. A Q&A session will follow the webinar.

The webinar will be presented by Anna Barnett, Sheila Henderson and Beverley Scheib, authors of the DASH-2.

Anna is a Professor in Psychology at Oxford Brookes University. She is Research Lead in the Department of Psychology, Health and Professional Development and teaches on a range of postgraduate and undergraduate psychology courses at Oxford Brookes. Anna’s general area of research is perceptual-motor development and within this she has a special interest in both Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD) and in the skill of handwriting.

Sheila is a Reader Emerita at the Institute of Education, University of London. She taught on both undergraduate and graduate level courses at the Institute, many of which involved training teachers of children with special educational needs. Sheila is principal author of the Movement Assessment Battery for Children – Third Edition (Movement ABC-3) and has published widely in the fields of motor development and disability. She was a founding member of the National Handwriting Association and held the position of Chair for 10 years.

Beverly is a retired teacher with experience in mainstream and special schools in the USA and the UK. Her prime focus throughout her career and retirement has been on literacy, with a specific interest in handwriting, keyboarding, and perceptual-motor problems. She has combined an academic role in teacher training and research with teaching and assessing children and has co-authored several booklets on handwriting.
