Ofqual withdrew their official statistics on access arrangements in July 2025 after discovering issues with their interpretation of the data collection and reporting.
These issues resulted in significant overstatement of approved access arrangements for the exam cohort of each year, with updated analysis suggesting that the proportion of students receiving access arrangements (including 25% extra time) is more in line with the proportion of students with SEN in the school population.
Ofqual will publish revised statistics for 2020 onwards later this year.
