TRAINING FOR READERS, SCRIBES AND TEST ADMINISTRATORS ACTING FOR KEY STAGE 2 NATIONAL CURRICULUM ASSESSMENTS. 50 minutes.
The Standards and Testing Agency (STA) encourages schools to hold training sessions for those involved in administering the Key Stage 2 tests. This 50 minute training course is for adults supporting pupils as readers or scribes and test administrators in Key Stage 2 National Curriculum Tests. During this short presentation, which includes video, audio and PowerPoint, Caroline explains the regulations concerning Access Arrangements based on the KS2 ‘Assessing and Reporting Arrangements’ and ‘Test Administrator’s Guide’. She helps staff to understand how the role they play in the classroom differs from their role during the test.
This online course is designed to be administered in one of two ways:
1. Ideally a group of adults who will be acting as readers, scribes or supporting pupils in other ways with their access arrangements will be able to access the course together at the same time. For this we recommend that you use a digital projector and large screen with speakers to amplify the presentation.
2. Alternatively, individual staff members can access the course on a PC with headphones. Please note that due to the login requirements it is only possible for one person to be accessing the course at a time using this method.
You will have 10 days from the start date you choose to login and view the course- you can run the course as many times as you want to within this 10 day period, and there is no maximum number of delegates for the total course fee of £40 (Early Bird rate)/ £50 (Standard rate). All delegates must be from your school; you can’t use the course to train staff from other schools. We do not provide certificates for delegates accessing this course, but many schools produce their own certificates.
The course tutor is Caroline Read. Caroline is a Specialist Teacher who has practical experience in all areas of the Access Arrangements process and trains for LAs, Universities and SEN Services. Caroline's book ‘Assessment Guidance for Key Stage 2 Access Arrangements’ was published by GL Assessment. She contributed to the PATOSS/JCQ publication ‘Dyslexia: Assessing the need for Access Arrangements’. Her work has also been published by the TES and the RNIB, and she has worked with various publishers to develop tests. Caroline has been involved with other Ofqual and DfE training and policy projects.
