DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENT OF ADULT STUDENTS - AN OVERVIEW

This practical full day course is for everyone involved in assessing students in Further and Higher Education including Specialist Teachers, Learning Support Teachers and Managers. The course will cover the key aspects of assessment for adults.
Including:
* Understanding Psychometric Testing
* How do literacy difficulties affect study at FE / HE level?
* Suitable tests for adults / screening for dyslexia
* Interpreting the results and summarising the findings
* Recommendations
* An outline of the Disabled Student’s Allowance
The course tutor is Sarah Beard
Sarah is a Specialist Teacher who runs the OCR Level 5 and 7 Courses in SpLD, and offers teaching and assessment of dyslexic learners of all ages, through her own company dittas SpLD Training. She has extensive experience of teaching and assessing adult learners, having worked for over ten years in a College of Further and Adult Education. Sarah is also an External Verifier for the OCR SpLD/Dyslexia suite of courses, and lectures locally and nationally on the subject of dyslexia and SpLD.
